From 15 to 19 September 2025, the University of A Coruña hosted a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) at its Elviña Campus, bringing together over 50 PhD candidates, postdocs, and academic staff from across Europe. Participants came from University of Limerick (Ireland), Matej Bel University (Slovakia), Democritus University of Thrace (Greece), Europa-Universität Flensburg (Germany), University of Inland Norway and the two French institutions of the alliance, Université Bretagne Sud and Université Rennes 2.
The programme, titled “A Guideline for an Impactful Research Career”, focused on transversal skills such as critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, and project management, alongside scientific communication. Workshops trained participants in using multiple communication channels to make research more accessible and impactful. Sessions also explored advanced methods including sociological discourse analysis, qualitative research techniques, and strategies to enhance research visibility.
Beyond the classroom, participants visited the University’s campuses in A Coruña and Ferrol, toured research centres with state-of-the-art equipment, and took part in a cultural excursion to Santiago de Compostela.
The BIP was organised under EMERGE Work Package 6, Knowledge Co-Creation to Address the Challenges of Our Territories. All participants received formal recognition of 30 hours of training (3 ECTS), highlighting EMERGE’s commitment to ensuring that international mobility and career-strengthening opportunities are accessible to students and staff from Europe’s geographic margins.
