On 23–24 September 2025, representatives from the nine EMERGE partner universities gathered at Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF) for the launch of the Joint Teaching and Learning Framework Working Group. This two-day workshop marked a significant milestone in the Alliance’s mission to co-develop a shared educational model designed to strengthen inclusion, innovation and transnational cooperation across European higher education.
The sessions focused on the first draft of the EMERGE Joint Teaching and Learning Framework, which will guide future collaboration in curriculum development, mobility opportunities, community engagement and innovative teaching practices. Particular attention was given to ensuring equitable access for students and regions often underrepresented in European higher education.
The workshop opened with a welcome address from EUF President, Prof. Dr. Christiane Hipp, who reaffirmed the university’s commitment to the EMERGE mission. Participants then worked intensively on five thematic areas: joint educational goals, collaboration principles, Europeanisation of curricula, new pedagogical and plurilingual approaches, and guidelines for internships and fellowships.
The outcomes of this first meeting will be further developed and consolidated at a follow-up workshop in early 2026 at Université Bretagne Sud. Alongside the working sessions, participants also had the opportunity to discover the city of Flensburg during a guided tour and to strengthen personal connections during an informal networking dinner.
