On 29–30 January 2025, Matej Bel University (UMB) welcomed a delegation from Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF), one of its valued partners within the EMERGE Alliance. This visit marked a key moment in strengthening academic ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration under the alliance’s shared strategic framework.
The EUF delegation, consisting of Prof. Ulrich Glassmann and Dr. Thomas Duttle, presented the conceptual groundwork for a new interdisciplinary joint study programme titled “Philosophy, Politics and Economy” (PPE). The programme is designed to offer a cross-cutting perspective on contemporary societal challenges, integrating insights from political science, economics, and philosophy.
Throughout the visit, the delegates held in-depth discussions with UMB’s university leadership, faculty deans, and academic and pedagogical staff. The aim was to identify institutional intersections and practical steps that could support the early implementation of the PPE programme. These exchanges also opened broader conversations about future research collaboration and mobility opportunities.
As part of its role in the EMERGE Alliance, Europa-Universität Flensburg is coordinating a work package on education, with a focus on developing shared study programmes and fostering transnational learning models. This initiative supports the alliance’s overarching mission to create a connected and inclusive European higher education space.
The visit reaffirmed the commitment of both universities to collaborative innovation in education, embodying the EMERGE vision of interdisciplinary, cross-border academic excellence.
