Since Université Bretagne Sud (UBS) joined the EMERGE European University Alliance, staff mobility opportunities have grown significantly and are now open to all members of the university community.
For more than ten years, the International Office (SAI) has supported staff training mobility through Erasmus+, enabling colleagues to take part in professional development activities at European universities and companies. Thanks to EMERGE, which brings together nine partner universities across Europe, these opportunities have expanded to include administrative staff as well. This year, six UBS staff members will benefit from exchanges at alliance universities.
Last year, two colleagues shared their experiences. Véronique, Director of the UBS Foundation, took part in a staff week at the University of Limerick (Ireland) on the theme O.P.E.N.: Opportunities in Internationalisation at Home. She also collaborated with the UL Foundation team:
“A great team that gave me the warmest Irish welcome in a friendly and open atmosphere!”
Yann, a research engineer in scientific computing, completed his Erasmus+ training mobility in a UL laboratory specialising in composite structure fire behaviour. The week offered him both new learning and the chance to share his expertise:
“We took the opportunity to prepare research topics with a view to setting up collaborative projects in the future.”
These exchanges are already creating momentum. Véronique is planning further collaborations with SAI and with foundations from other EMERGE universities. The first step will be the Ouvre Boîte discussion on 13 October on the theme “Do you have to leave to succeed?”
Another initiative is the continuation of relations with the UL Foundation and, why not, with other foundations of EMERGE member universities.
For Yann, his mobility is the starting point for joint research within EMERGE and the possibility of developing a larger-scale project along the Atlantic coast.
By connecting staff across regions, EMERGE opens doors to new ideas, collaborations, and lasting partnerships, demonstrating how European cooperation strengthens opportunities at UBS.
